Cenas de Cinema #9: Shawshank Redemption

A música que o Andy Dufresne põe a tocar para que toda a prisão aprecie é o dueto "Sull'aria? Che soave zeffiretto" e faz parte da ópera As Bodas de Fígaro de Mozart.
É um momento sublime, daqueles que só acontecem nos filmes... até porque o que se ouve é de uma actuação de 1968 na Ópera de Berlim - cantam Edith Mathis e Gundula Janowitz, conduzidas pelo maestro Karl Böhm - e no filme 1968 ainda era futuro!

O The Shawshank Redemption é uma adaptação de um livro de Stephen King - Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption - , no entanto esta cena não existe no livro, apenas no filme.
Frank Darabont, o realizador do filme, explica porquê:

Since it's not a scene that occurs in Stephen King's novella, I've been asked where the idea came from to have Andy broadcast Mozart throughout the prison. The answer is, I love music. All kinds, not just what they're dishing up this week on MTV. More to the point, I tend to write to music, because I find that it informs and infuses the creative process, sends my imagination wandering places it wouldn't normally go, gives me ideas, makes me see things. In this sense, I've had many cowriters, everyone from Duke Ellington to Hans Zimmer to...yes, Mozart. I happened to be listening to The Marriage of Figaro while writing this script, and the duet between Susanna and the Contessa simply insisted on being in the movie. As applied in the film, music represents freedom of the soul in the same way that the books in Andy's library represent freedom of the mind.

Ao preparar este post descobri que o túnel de esgotos que o Andy Dufresne atravessa na cena da fuga, na realidade era feito de chocolate.
Isto não é merda, é chocolate!

Remember when Andy was crawling in the sewer pipe? Did you know that he was really crawling through CHOCOLATE syrup? A fan emailed me that on his visit to Mansfield, they had a piece of that tunnel and it STILL smells like chocolate! Here is a PICTURE of that scene.
